The Institute's Board of Governors sets Institute policies and oversees ICI activities. Its current Chairman is Gregory E. Johnson, President and Chief Executive officer of Franklin Resources, Inc.

Paul Schott Stevens has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Institute since June 2004.

Investment Company Institute is the national trade association for the investment company industry. We serve our members in the areas of federal and state legislation and regulation, taxation, pension, international issues, economic and market research, industry statistics, public information, fund operations, and investment adviser issues.

ICI's history as an organization dates from the very creation of the modern U.S. fund industry in 1940, when the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and fund industry leaders identified the need for an organization to facilitate the effective functioning of funds under the U.S. legislative and regulatory framework.

The ICI Education Foundation accepts and reviews applications from schools and nonprofit organizations for greater Washington, DC investor education microgrants on a rolling quarterly basis.
